Victorinox Swiss Army models are generally very popular, and I am sure the new Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph will be no exception. The Alpnach line is named after the heliport base for Cougar helicopters, which is the pride of the Swiss Army. The 43 mm case is two-tone made of 316L steel and black PVD. Unfortunately the crystal is a mineral which is not terrible, but sapphire is just so much better for clarity and scratch resistance. The signature of the watch is a 4-blade rotor that is used to display seconds at 9 o’clock. Of the standard functions the most notable is the countdown timer. The movement is a automatic chrono Valjoux 7750 with a 46-hour power reserve. No word on availability or price, but expect to pay at least $1000.
